Formed by author Chris Engholm of Bentonville, Arkansas, The Writer's Salon of NWA meets regularly to support writers of all forms of writing, of all ages.
Our mission is three-fold: To provide SUPPORT, CRITIQUE, and KNOW-HOW for both new and proven writers working in NWA.
We meet twice each month in the Bentonville area. There is no charge to attend a meeting for writers who bring a piece of writing to read to the group. Non-readers make a $5 contribution to attend meetings, which is used to pay honorariums to visiting professional authors.
Your first meeting is free.
Meetings are 90 minutes to two hours and held in the early evening. We are seeking a permanent location for meetings, to be announced soon.
Your host, Chris Engholm, has published eleven books with publishers such as Simon & Schuster, Prentice Hall, John Wiley & Sons, and Kodansha. He has written about international business, crossing culture, photography, the internet, nature, and the rivers of Arkansas. He also writes documentary films and develops art & history exhibitions that have traveled throughout Arkansas. At present, he is writing a "user's guide" to an American watershed and a visual history of photography from the American South. Chris has also taught writing courses that focus on book proposal and grant writing. In the past three years, he has won two grants from the National Endowment of the Humanities. He is also involved in self-pubishing and experienced with emerging printing-on-demand opportunities.
If you are interested in attending The Writer's Salon of NWA, please come to a meeting (which are listed here), or contact Chris at chris@chrisengholm.com.
Thank you!
